Andreas Breitner has graduated in Public Administration. For ten years he worked in various police departments, most recently as head of the kriminalpolizeilichen counseling center in Kiel. From 2000 to 2003 Breitner worked as a personal speaker of the Schleswig-Holstein Minister of the Interior Klaus Buß. In October 2002, he was elected by the citizens of the city of Rendsburg in direct election to the mayor and took office on April 1, 2003. In the mayoral election in 2010, he was confirmed with 87%. In 2012, Andreas Breitner became Minister of the Interior in the Cabinet of the state government. Since 2015 he is director of the VNW Verband Norddeutscher Wohnungsunternehmen e.V.
